We’re pleased to announce that BTTJ’s charity of the year for 2024-2025 is local charity OurJay Foundation
OurJay Foundation aims to raise awareness of the importance of having 24/7 publicly accessible automated external defibrillators. They also aim to raise funds to purchase and install accessible defibrillators across Rugby, Warwickshire and further afield. Accessible defibrillators are needed, everywhere. Cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere, any time at any age. With a defibrillator available within 8 minutes, it can increase the chance of a person’s survival by up to 70%
After losing their 18-year-old son/brother/friend Jamie to a heart attack on new years day in 2022, Jamie’s family and friends decided to start fundraising to install a 24/7 accessible defibrillator in a local school, after receiving an overwhelming response, they set up OurJay Foundation…… They are working closely with local government organisations, community groups and business organisations to get these vital accessible defibrillators into as many publicly accessible sites as possible. They will continue to campaign for and provide CPR/AED Training to incorporate automated external defibrillators as a mandatory element of the training. Additionally, they will campaign to have CPR/AED training in the curriculum of all educational establishments across the UK.
