The Supreme Court has now handed down Judgment in the case of Paul & Another v Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust. In respect of what is known as Secondary Victim Claims. Prior to the Judgment, Claimants were able to claim that they had suffered psychiatric injury by reason of witnessing the death of a close relative where the death was caused by the breach of duty of the Defendant for which they were entitled to damages. Following an investigation ordered by Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt into the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, inspectors have found that safety in maternity services "needed further improvement" as reported by the BBC. Read On
